South African stu­dents con­tinue fees protest

Some South African stu­dents are con­tin­u­ing univer­sity fee protests, de­spite the pres­i­dent agree­ing to freeze in­creases.

Three uni­ver­si­ties re­main closed, with stu­dents de­mand­ing free qual­ity ed­u­ca­tion for all.

The protests started last week when univer­sity man­age­ment an­nounced a 10-12% in­crease in fees.

Wits Univer­sity in Jo­han­nes­burg, where the protests be­gan, the Univer­sity of Cape Town and the Univer­sity of Western Cape re­main closed.
