Don tasks Muslims on nation building, good governance
Muslims in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been urged to know the importance of Hijra to the nation. In a paper he presented at the annual Hijra anniversary of the Abuja Muslim Forum (AMF), held at the conference hall of the National Mosque in Abuja, last weekend, Professor Adam Ahmed Okene, a guest lecturer, called on Nigerian Muslims to know the importance of the hijra (migration), stressing that, the nation cannot be considered a good one without it having its various components on the path of linkages, positive collaboration and integration. Prof. Ahmed also pointed out that due to Nigerian’s pedestrian and lopsided application of democracy and acute absence of good governance, the country and its people are more disintegrated now than previously.
He said that Nigeria’s records in health, social security, education, political administration and infrastructural provisions were dismal, adding that lack of proactiveness on the part of the leadership and security apparatuses is absolutely a Nigerian trait.
The professor said that both Muslims and non-Muslims should follow the teaching of the Prophet (SAW ) to “enable them develop materially and administratively.”
He admonished Nigerians
to ensure security of lives and property, entrench good governance and integrate the various racial and social forces.
Speaking earlier, the Amir of the forum, Malam Luqman Amoo said “the sole aim of establishing the forum was to inculcate the true teachings of Islam, unite the Muslim Ummah in the FCT, coordinate all Islamic activities as well as foster peaceful co-existence and religious tolerance amongst the citizenry.”
