Man arrested over ram theft in Abuja
The police at Kubwa, an Abuja suburb, have arrested a 19-yearold man for allegedly stealing a ram in Phase 2, Site 1 area of Kubwa, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The suspect, identified as Bashir Suleiman, was said to be operating in the area around 5.00 a.m. with two of his accomplices when he was apprehended.
Daily Trust gathered that a police patrol team arrived the scene of the robbery following a distress call by one of the residents of the area and succeeded in arresting the suspect.
It however learnt that the other two accomplices escaped, while a ram and four gas cylinders were recovered from the suspect.
In another case, the police have arrested a 39-year-old man said to be extorting money from residents through ‘spiritual’ manipulations.
The suspect, Silver James, was nabbed in front of one of the commercial banks while extorting money from innocent teenagers, who came to withdraw money from an ATM point.
City News learnt that the suspect, together with his accomplice, disguised as ‘Men of God’, to deceive their victims, who they asked to drop certain amount of money for prayers.
“He was unlucky that day as nemesis caught up with him and the police arrested him while his colleague escaped,” it added.
Confirming both arrests, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, said the suspects are in their custody while efforts are on to arrest the escapees.
