CITY NEWS 2 women stripped naked over N100,000 theft
Two women were on Wednesday stripped naked by a mob for allegedly stealing N100,000 from a wine shop at Dutsen Alhaji market, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
City News learnt that the women had gone to the market that fateful day and entered the shop under the pretext of buying some items.
A source said one of the women approached the shop owner and was negotiating the price of one of the wine bottles when her accomplice dipped her hand into the drawer and removed N100,000.
“She was about to walk away with the money when the shop owner who had seen her steal the money raised alarm which attracted other traders,” the source added.
According to the source, the traders suddenly pounced on two of them, stripped them naked, and were about to lynch them when they were rescued by the police who stormed the scene of the incident following an alert.
City News further gathered that their nakedness was immediately covered by the police who provided them with clothes before they were whisked away to the station.
When contacted, the Dutse Divisional Police Officer, SP Hajiya Aisha Yusuf, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects have been charged to court.
