FUT students rally against incessant attacks by host communities

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Abubakar Haruna, Minna

Students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, have staged a peaceful protest against increasing cases of attacks by members of the host communities, especially against students living off campus.

The rally, which was led by President of the Students Union Government (SUG), Adeolu Aminu, took place at the main entrance of the Bosso campus of the institution over the weekend.

“Our peaceful and law abiding students have constantly been attacked with various deadly weapons in their homes, which has led to loss of valuable properties and caused serious injuries. There have also been cases of attempted rape on female students at the Gidan Kwanu and Bosso campuses of the university,” Aminu said.

He added that the latest incident happened on the night of June 26 when a student was attacked and left with severe injuries in his head.

“The students of FUT Minna are peace loving and law abiding and that is why we are organizing this peaceful movement to let the world know our plight and come to our aid,” he said.
