Crim­i­nals may kid­nap chil­dren dur­ing Sal­lah, Po­lice warn Bauchi res­i­dents

The Nige­ria Po­lice have warned people in Bauchi State that some crim­i­nal el­e­ments in the state may be kid­nap­ping chil­dren dur­ing the Sal­lah cel­e­bra­tions.

Spokesper­son of the state po­lice com­mand SP Haruna Mo­hammed said in a state­ment yes­ter­day that in­tel­li­gence re­port at its dis­posal re­vealed that some crim­i­nal el­e­ments who in­fil­trated the State were plan­ning to kid­nap chil­dren for ran­som or other mo­tives.

He said that it was im­per­a­tive to in­form the pub­lic about the de­vel­op­ment so that people would look af­ter their wards dur­ing the period.

He urged res­i­dents to pay spe­cial at­ten­tion to strangers and re­port sus­pi­cious per­sons or ob­jects within their neigh­bour­hood to the near­est po­lice sta­tion.

He as­sured, how­ever, that the Po­lice Com­mand was fully com­mit­ted to pro­vid­ing safe en­vi­ron­ment be­fore, dur­ing and af­ter the Eid- El Fitr Sal­lah Cel­e­bra­tion.
