The Conference of Minority Tribes in Nigeria (CMTN) has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to delete Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina’s name from the no fly list of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Coordinator of the organisation, Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, said yesterday in Abuja that retaining Mr. Maina’s name on the list after five different court verdicts against the commission was a clear case of corruption.

Ogenyi told reporters that the recent testimony by Senator Kabiru Gaya, the Senate committee chairman on Local Government Administration who was a co-chairman of the Senate Committee on pension probe, that the said N195bn was in the government’s account had vindicated Maina and that as such, keeping his name on the list and red alert of the Interpol was a clear case of fraud and victimization.

“For the ongoing war against corruption to succeed, the likes of Abdulrasheed Maina, our son from southern Borno, must be allowed to be a free man having proven beyond reasonable doubt, his innocence and survived all the allegations against him by anti-Nigeria elements. Nigerians needs the likes of Maina to assist the present government in recovering public funds,” he said.

He said the a recent interview in a national daily by Senator Gaya that the said N195bn was stocked in agencies of government and formed part of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) of the federal government was enough exoneration of Maina apart from the ruling of Justice A. U. Shuaibu setting aside a warrant sought by the EFCC against him.
