Driver killed as bus crashes at Anini village
A bus driver has died while a passenger sustained serious injuries after their vehicle crashed yesterday at Anini village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the incident happened around 3:17a.m. when a Peugeot J5 bus veered off the road and crashed into a ditch.
He said the bus somersaulted thrice before crashing and that the driver died on the spot, while one of the passengers sustained serious injuries.
He said the rescue team of the Yangoji unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), which arrived the scene took the corpse and injured passenger to hospital.
When contacted, the Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander J. G. Sambgaza, confirmed the incident and attributed it to over speeding and loss of control.
He said the remains of the driver had been taken to the Kwali General Hospital morgue, while the injured passenger was receiving treatment at the hospital.
