Troops kill sui­cide bombers tar­get­ing Borno IDPs

The Nige­rian Army said troops early yes­ter­day shot dead two fe­male Boko Haram sui­cide bombers who at­tempted to at­tack Internally Dis­placed Per­sons (IDP) in Monguno, Borno State.

A state­ment from army spokesman, Colonel Sani Us­man, said the troops killed the at­tack­ers who tar­geted some dis­placed per­sons who were fetch­ing water from a bore­hole on the out­skirts of Monguno town along Marte road.

“Un­for­tu­nately, the ex­plo­sive they were strapped with ex­ploded and in­jured two civil­ians nearby. The in­jured per­sons have been evac­u­ated and are re­ceiv­ing med­i­cal at­ten­tion at the 8 Task Force Di­vi­sion’s med­i­cal facility.”

“The third sui­cide bomber that fol­lowed a dif­fer­ent route det­o­nated at some dis­tance be­fore troops de­ployed along the same road at about 7.10am,” he said. Us­man said troops had cor­doned off the area and im­posed re­stric­tion on move­ment into Monguno.
