Police synergize to capture S/Leone high commissioner’s abductors
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim has said that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the Kaduna State Police commands are synergizing to capture the abductors of the Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria, Major Nelson Williams.
Williams was abducted on July 1, 2016 by unknown gunmen along Kaduna-Abuja road when he was on his way to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Kaduna State, for the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 38/2016, to witness the General graduation of students from Sierra Leone.
Speaking at the distribution of food items for widows of fallen policemen in Kaduna yesterday, the CP said although the matter was reported by the Sierra Leone embassy in Abuja, the Kaduna Police Command was also combing the bush in case the suspects try to cross over. “We heard of the news which occurred around the FCT axis, and we have joined hands to see how to come to the rescue should the people pass through the bush to come to Kaduna axis,” he said.
Commenting on the intervention for widows, the CP said, “When we were in Abia state, myself and my wife, were able to help some widows over there, so she asked me if I plan to assist some of them here and that is why we are distributing these items to them. Unfortunately, due to time constraint, we were only able to raise 50 bags of rice and two cows for the widows and orphans to go and celebrate in the command.”
