Wema Bank un­veils new bank­ing plat­form

Wema Bank Plc yes­ter­day an­nounced the of­fi­cial launch of its spe­cial Un­struc­tured Sup­ple­men­tary Ser­vice Data (USSD) bank­ing plat­form *945#.

The bank’s for­mer USSD code has been up­graded with more fea­tures to ben­e­fit both ex­ist­ing and po­ten­tial Wema Bank cus­tomers. The USSD is a GSM com­mu­ni­ca­tion tech­nol­ogy that sends text mes­sages be­tween mo­bile phones and net­work plat­forms.

Speak­ing at a brief­ing to in­tro­duce the lat­est ad­di­tion to Wema Bank’s long list of value propo­si­tions to the gen­eral pub­lic, Mr. Dele Adeyinka, Head of e-Busi­ness at Wema Bank Plc, stated that the Wema Bank fam­ily is ex­cited about this new de­vel­op­ment and stated that the 945 USSD plat­form will en­able cus­tomers and non-cus­tomers alike gain easy and sim­ple ac­cess to bank­ing so­lu­tions from wher­ever they are.

“Every­one can ac­cess the sim­ple bank­ing so­lu­tions pro­vided by *945#” Adeyinka stated. “*945# pro­vides ser­vices like air­time top-up, ac­count open­ing, money trans­fer, cash-on­the-go, pay­ment of bills, and bal­ance en­quiry”.

Ac­cord­ing to him, new and ex­ist­ing Wema Ac­count Hold­ers also stand a chance to win lots of prizes by us­ing the code in the days fol­low­ing this launch.

Un­veil­ing the USSD easy-bank­ing code, Mr. Se­gun Oloke­tuyi, Man­ag­ing Direc­tor/Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of Wema Bank Plc, dis­closed that 945 was de­rived from 1945, the year the bank was estab­lished.
