Robbers shot 2, dispossess travellers at Aseni

Daily Trust - - CITY NEWS - By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Suspected armed robbers in the early hours of Friday opened fire on a bus travelling from Lokoja to Abuja and injured two persons near Aseni village.

Our reporter learnt that the suspected robbers forced the bus passengers to lie facedown and dispossessed them of their money and other valuables.

A witness said the robbers opened fire on the Toyota commuter bus after the driver attempted to escape when he ran into them.

“The bus driver suddenly applied brakes and was trying to make a U-turn when one of the robbers opened fire and two passengers were hit by the bullets,” he said.

He said that the suspected robbers fled into the bush after they dispossessed their victims, while the two injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State, for treatment.

When our reporter visited Chikara Police Division, the DPO was not available for comments but a police officer said that the division was not aware of the robbery attack.
