China’s communist party a model for Nigeria – Shehu Sani

Daily Trust - - ONLINE REACTIONS -

It is quite baffling to hear somebody like Shehu Sani, with all his prominence as a civil-rights activist, now advocating an undemocratic totalitarian communist one-party system as a role model for Nigeria. Being an ideologue, especially for a political party, is a good thing, but ideology alone, of any kind, would not qualify you as the best role model.

I do want to make a preposition for Nigeria to test communism. On attaining self rule, our dear nation tested Westminster system of governance which collapsed with bloodshed after six years only. After the civil war and long term military administrations, Nigeria went to practice democratic system being practised in the US but with large cost to sustain. But communism may be the nation’s hope of survival with minimum cost. The NASS should call for a referendum thus setting aside the constitution now in practice to pave way for communism.
