Militants abduct immigration officer in Lagos
Suspected gunmen have abducted a personnel of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Ikorodu, Lagos. The victim who was identified as Peter Ofulue was allegedly abducted by some militants while on his way to work.
A source told Daily Trust that the victim was trying to board a boat when he was abducted by the gunmen who drove him away in an unregistered car, and that the family was yet to be contacted for ransom or anything.
At Ikorodu jetty, a witness said, “I was there when the gunmen accosted the Immigration officer. They shot into the air to scare people away, so we ran for safety.”
Gunmen believed to be suspected members of the Niger Delta militants had held over five communities in Lagos and Ogun states hostage. Over 25 persons have been killed and several others injured since hostility started at Ogboolomu, Elepete, and Ibafo areas.
Several others have also been kidnapped by the gunmen, majority of who are militants and pipeline vandals.
