Mil­i­tants abduct im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cer in Lagos

Sus­pected gun­men have ab­ducted a per­son­nel of the Nige­rian Im­mi­gra­tion Ser­vice in Iko­rodu, Lagos. The vic­tim who was iden­ti­fied as Peter Ofu­lue was al­legedly ab­ducted by some mil­i­tants while on his way to work.

A source told Daily Trust that the vic­tim was try­ing to board a boat when he was ab­ducted by the gun­men who drove him away in an un­reg­is­tered car, and that the fam­ily was yet to be con­tacted for ran­som or any­thing.

At Iko­rodu jetty, a wit­ness said, “I was there when the gun­men ac­costed the Im­mi­gra­tion of­fi­cer. They shot into the air to scare peo­ple away, so we ran for safety.”

Gun­men be­lieved to be sus­pected mem­bers of the Niger Delta mil­i­tants had held over five com­mu­ni­ties in Lagos and Ogun states hostage. Over 25 per­sons have been killed and sev­eral oth­ers in­jured since hos­til­ity started at Og­boolomu, Elepete, and Ibafo ar­eas.

Sev­eral oth­ers have also been kid­napped by the gun­men, ma­jor­ity of who are mil­i­tants and pipe­line van­dals.
