C’ttee uncovers 9,720 ghost workers in Kogi
A Staff Verification Committee set up by the Kogi state government said its interim report has uncovered 9,720 ghost workers on the state payroll.
Chairman of the screening committee, Mr Jerry Agbaje, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja, said the figure represented numbers of ‘assumed workers’ that failed to turn up for the screening exercise.
He said out of the 25,208 council workers who were issued forms across the 21 LGAs of the state, only 22,272 presented themselves for the screening.
Agbaje said the figures of primary school teachers issued the screening forms were 25,662 but 22,608 submitted themselves for the exercise while the 3,054 teachers who did not show up were considered ghost workers.
