Law­maker em­pow­ers con­stituents

The law­maker rep­re­sent­ing Edo South Sen­a­to­rial District at the Na­tional Assem­bly, Sen­a­tor Mathew Urhoghide, has dis­trib­uted em­pow­er­ment items to youths and women of his district.

Dis­tribut­ing the items in Benin yes­ter­day, Sen­a­tor Urhoghide said apart from the em­pow­er­ment items, schol­ar­ship would be given to the chil­dren of the poor­est of the poor who would be se­lected by a com­mit­tee.

He said cash do­na­tion would also be made to mar­ket women to sup­port their busi­nesses.

“Dur­ing my elec­tion­eer­ing cam­paigns, I promised that I would pur­sue proper rep­re­sen­ta­tion. In the one year journey so far, I can say that I have kept faith with Edo South peo­ple and my prom­ises,” he said.

Items dis­trib­uted dur­ing the em­pow­er­ment pro­gramme were sew­ing ma­chines, grind­ing ma­chines, wheel­chairs, gen­er­a­tors and freez­ers.
