Agatu farmers receive rice seedlings from group
A group known as the Idoma Progressives Movement (IPM) has donated rice seedlings to nine villages in Agatu local government area of Benue state which was recently ravaged by suspected herdsmen.
The group also supported the devastated farmers of the area with herbicides for their farms to caution the effect of their loss.
Leader of the group, Andy Kaggwa Obeya said during a brief ceremony in Agatu that the IPM’s role during and after the conflict with the herders was to facilitate early recovery for affected communities since their major occupation is farming.
“As part of the group’s annual program of distributing improved seeds to rural communities, we decided to support the nine most affected villages in Agatu with improved rice seedlings and herbicides,” he said.
