Ganduje frees 500 inmates

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Yusha’u A. Ibrahim, Kano

The Kano State Government yesterday released 500 inmates who could not pay the fines slammed on them by various courts.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje offset the fines placed on the convicts who were largely jailed in various prisons across the state for minor offenses.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the Kurmawa Central Prison, Ganduje said government felt the need to secure their release as part of the Edel Fitr celebrations, and charged them to avoid any act that could return them to prison.

One of the freed inmates, Auwalu Adamu, who was detained for three years with an option of N50,000, thanked Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his gesture.
