Austere Sallah: Workers wail over non-payment of salary

As Muslims celebrate Sallah, civil servants in Gombe state are not in such good mood over the failure of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo to pay them their salary for the month of June.

A check by this reporter revealed that all the staff under the

payroll of the state civil service had not received their June

salary four days into the new month of July, a development that left many parents in dilemma on how to provide food for their families during the Sallah period.

Daily Trust gathered that some workers had not received salary for the last three months, a development the

government attributed to the ongoing staff verification exercise.
