“Edo central should produce APC running mate”

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Usman A. Bello, Benin

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State should concede the position of running mate of the gubernatorial flag bearer to the central senatorial district in the interest of fairness and equity, a chieftain of the party, Chief Francis Inegbeneki, has said. Speaking with journalists in Benin, yesterday, Chief Inegbeneki said before the party’s primaries on June 18, leaders from the district met with the governor and it was agreed that after the emergence of the flagbearer, another meeting will be held to decide a running mate”. He said they also discussed that Edo Central should be given priority while picking the running mate.

“Any right-thinking politician will know that it is not politically wise to give the deputy governor’s slot to a zone which has the outgoing governor. Edo North has the governor and the deputy from Edo South,” he said.
