NPFL All Stars team call-up excites Obaje, Alhassan
Wikki Tourists duo of Godwin Obaje and Ibrahim Alhassan have expressed excitement over their inclusion in the list of players selected by the League Management Company for a playing tour of Spain in August.
The LMC yesterday made public the list made up of four goalkeepers, eight defenders, three defensive midfielders, seven wingers and six centre forwards for a pre-season friendly with Valencia CF and Malaga CF in the annual Carranza LaLiga World Club Tournament on August 12 and 13.
Reacting to the list, Obaje told Daily Trust that he is really excited to be picked among the best players in the domestic league to embark on the foreign trip.
He said it is a reward for the hard work he has put into the ongoing season.
“I am really happy that I was considered worthy to make the list of players for the trip to Spain. There are so many good players in the league so to be recognised as one of the best is gratifying.
“This calls for more work because I would want to justify my selection. This calls for more work also on the part of the players who have been selected,” he said.
On his part, former Flying Eagles star, Ibrahim Alhassan “Muazzam” said he is going to make good use of the opportunity given to him to show his talent on a bigger stage.
He said although he just joined Wikki Tourists, he was happy that the organisers have appreciated his contributions to the Tourists of Bauchi.
“It is a thing of joy that I have made the NPFL All Stars team for the trip to Spain. I am going to make good use of the opportunity. We would do our best to be good ambassadors of the country,” he said.
