Kwali chairman’s wife donates foodstuffs to lepers at Yangoji
The wife of the chairman of Kwali Area Council, Mrs. Saratu Joseph Shazhin, yesterday, donated foodstuffs to lepers at Alheri Special Village at Yangoji.
The food items she donated included five bags of rice, three cartons of maggi, two jerry cans of palm oil and two jerry cans of vegetable oil and five cartons of spaghetti.
Saratu said that she decided to donate the food items to the lepers to help them celebrate the Eid-elFitri Sallah.
She added that the donation was also in appreciation of their support to her husband during the recent councils polls.
“I know what I am presenting you people is not much due to financial challenges, but the present APC-led administration, under my husband, will continue to give support, especially in the area of welfare,” she said.
The chief of lepers of Alheri, Malam Isah Aliyu, while receiving the items, thanked the chairman’s wife for identifying with them despite their disabilities.
He said that they decided to give their votes to her husband during the last councils polls because of the good things the present chairman had done to them during his first tenure.
He said: “We lepers can vividly remember when your husband provided us with a grinding machine, which is still functioning up till today, and some other assistances he rendered to us during his first tenure. It was the trust we have in him that made us to vote him again and God will continue to bless him.”
