Robbers attack pastor in Abaji
Suspected armed robbers, yesterday, attacked a pastor with a pistol at his house in Naharati village, Abaji Area Council.
Our reporter learnt that the suspected robbers invaded the pastor’s house in the area at about 2:12a.m.
A resident of the community, who preferred anonymity, said, yesterday, that the incident happened when the pastor came out to ease himself. He said that the robbers, three in number, entered the house and forced him into his bedroom, while his family members were ordered to lie down with their faces to the ground. One of the robbers pointed a pistol at the pastor and asked him to give them money.
“Vigilantes heard the family members screaming and they rushed to the house but two of the robbers escaped and one was nabbed with the pistol he was carrying,” he said.
He said that though the robbers succeeded in taking away an undisclosed sum of money from the pastor, the arrested robber was handed over to the police in the area.
When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP David Kolo, said that one of the robbers was arrested with an empty shell of pistol, while two others were on the run.
“We have been able to arrest one among them with an empty shell of pistol and he will soon be transferred to the FCT police command, while our men are still on the trail of two others who are on the run,” he said.
