Cultists hack man to death in Lagos

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Eugene Agha, Lagos

Suspected cult group members yesterday went on rampage in Ajegunle, Lagos, killing one man and injuring several others.

The battle lasted for hours along the heavily populated Ojo Road area of the town, according to witnesses who alleged that the armed hoodlums turned the entire street into a theatre of war as they attacked one another with dangerous weapons.

Though, the cause of the clash could not be ascertained as at press time, a witness said the deceased was allegedly hacked down along the famous Ojo Road and left to bleed to death by the side of a drainage in front of his compound.

A resident, Emeka Uche, said, “The hoodlums engaged one another in a bloody war. They also dispossessed innocent members of the public of phones and other valuables. Most of those injured were returning home from where they went to celebrate the Muslim festival.”

Another witness who identified himself as Emiloju, said the hoodlums attacked anybody they saw on the way.

A lady who identified herself as Angela John, said the gang members robbed her of cash. She said, “The hoodlums collected the sum of N120, 000 and two mobile phones from me. There was nothing I could do while the attack on me lasted.”
