World Bank dredges River Hade­jia to boost rice farm­ing

World Bank is set to dredge a dis­tance of 90 kilo­me­tres in River Hade­jia with a view to in­creas­ing rice ir­ri­ga­tion ca­pac­ity from 40,000 to 300,000 hectares of land in Ji­gawa state, Gover­nor Mo­ham­madu Badaru Abubakar has said.

The gover­nor made the dis­clo­sure yes­ter­day when he re­ceived the Emir of Dutse, Al­haji (Dr.) Nuhu Muham­mad Sunusi dur­ing a Sal­lah homage in Gov­ern­ment House, Dutse, say­ing the world Bank in­di­cated in­ter­est in ex­e­cut­ing the project based on the en­cour­ag­ing re­sult of soil fer­til­ity for the pro­duc­tion of rice in the state.
