Smug­gling: Cus­toms seizes con­tra­band worth over N465m

The Nige­rian Cus­toms Ser­vice, Fed­eral Oper­a­tions Unit, Zone ‘B’, Kaduna has made 353 seizures of con­tra­band items ýwith duty paid value of over N465 mil­lion, the Con­troller of the Unit, Tukur Dan­ladi Haruna has dis­closed.

Speak­ing with news­men in Kaduna, the Con­troller said ýthe items, in­clud­ing bags of rice, sec­ond-hand clothes, veg­etable oil and sec­ond-hand tyres, had been de­stroyed, adding that the op­er­a­tives of the Ser­vice would not re­lent in their anti-smug­gling oper­a­tions.

He added, “Since my as­sump­tion of duty, I have op­er­ated an open­door pol­icy to en­able of­fi­cers re­late their ex­pe­ri­ences which has led to ef­fec­tive syn­ergy and suc­cess in the zonal area of op­er­a­tion.”
