UK to sup­port Niger on econ­omy

Bri­tish High Com­mis­sioner to Nige­ria, Mr Paul Ark­wright has said that the Bri­tish gov­ern­ment is ready to give sup­port to the Niger state gov­ern­ment in ar­eas that would as­sist to tackle its eco­nomic chal­lenges.

Mr Ar­ck­wright who made the state­ment when he paid a visit to Gover­nor Abubakar Sani Bello in the state in Minna said that UK would do their best to as­sist the state on the econ­omy.

He said the Bri­tish gov­ern­ment was aware of nu­mer­ous chal­lenges Niger state was fac­ing on econ­omy.

In his remark, Gover­nor Sani Bello sought part­ner­ship with Bri­tish gov­ern­ment to woo in­vestors through the devel­op­ment of the ex­ist­ing his­tor­i­cal tourist sites in the state.

“There are a lot of his­tor­i­cal things in the state that need to be back to life. It is im­por­tant to Nige­ria and the Bri­tish com­mu­nity to main­tain his­tory of the past events for the fu­ture gen­er­a­tion.

“We will work earnestly to write the his­tory and put the record straight in a more or­ga­nized, for­mal and pro­fes­sional man­ner,” he said.
