Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State has approved the appointment of Mr Daniel Musa Mohammed as the new head of civil service of the state.
A seasoned administrator, Mohammed was the oldest serving permanent secretary in the state’s civil service.
Born on February 10, 1958, in Deba, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, he graduated from the University of Lagos in 1981 with Bachelor of science degree in zoology. He obtained a postgraduate diploma in education from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a Master of science degree in medical entomology and parasitology from the University of Jos in 1994.
The new head of service also attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, in 2007.
He served as a lecturer II at the College of Education, Azare, Bauchi State, head of department, biology and science education, and acting deputy provost of the college from 1996 to 1998. He was acting registrar from 1998 to 2000, from where he was deployed to the ministry of education, Gombe, as director of higher education in 2000.
Mohammed reached the pinnacle of his civil service career in 2003 when he was appointed permanent secretary. He served in ministries of rural development, commerce, industry and solid minerals development, health, youth development and students affairs and ministry of higher education.
In recognition of his service to humanity, he received the Ambassador of Peace award given by the InterReligious and International Federation for World Peace, Millennium Ambassador Teachers without Boarders Award and Award of Excellence for Youth Empowerment, among others.
