Gover­nor Ibrahim Has­san Dankwambo of Gombe State has ap­proved the ap­point­ment of Mr Daniel Musa Mo­hammed as the new head of civil ser­vice of the state.

A sea­soned ad­min­is­tra­tor, Mo­hammed was the old­est serv­ing per­ma­nent sec­re­tary in the state’s civil ser­vice.

Born on Fe­bru­ary 10, 1958, in Deba, Ya­maltu/Deba Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area, he grad­u­ated from the Univer­sity of Lagos in 1981 with Bach­e­lor of sci­ence de­gree in zo­ol­ogy. He ob­tained a post­grad­u­ate diploma in ed­u­ca­tion from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Univer­sity, Bauchi, and a Mas­ter of sci­ence de­gree in med­i­cal en­to­mol­ogy and par­a­sitol­ogy from the Univer­sity of Jos in 1994.

The new head of ser­vice also at­tended the Na­tional In­sti­tute for Pol­icy and Strate­gic Stud­ies, Kuru, in 2007.

He served as a lec­turer II at the Col­lege of Ed­u­ca­tion, Azare, Bauchi State, head of depart­ment, bi­ol­ogy and sci­ence ed­u­ca­tion, and act­ing deputy provost of the col­lege from 1996 to 1998. He was act­ing regis­trar from 1998 to 2000, from where he was de­ployed to the min­istry of ed­u­ca­tion, Gombe, as direc­tor of higher ed­u­ca­tion in 2000.

Mo­hammed reached the pin­na­cle of his civil ser­vice ca­reer in 2003 when he was ap­pointed per­ma­nent sec­re­tary. He served in min­istries of ru­ral devel­op­ment, com­merce, in­dus­try and solid min­er­als devel­op­ment, health, youth devel­op­ment and stu­dents af­fairs and min­istry of higher ed­u­ca­tion.

In recog­ni­tion of his ser­vice to hu­man­ity, he re­ceived the Am­bas­sador of Peace award given by the In­terReli­gious and In­ter­na­tional Fed­er­a­tion for World Peace, Mil­len­nium Am­bas­sador Teach­ers with­out Board­ers Award and Award of Ex­cel­lence for Youth Em­pow­er­ment, among oth­ers.
