SPORT Abia War­riors deny sell­ing Chikatara to Wy­dad

The Nige­ria Pro­fes­sional Foot­ball League side, Abia War­riors have de­nied reach­ing an agree­ment with a Moroc­can side Wy­dad Ath­letic Club of Casablanca on the trans­fer of for­ward Chi­som Chikatara.

In a state­ment from the Nige­rian Club, signed by its Me­dia Of­fi­cer Igwe On­uoha yes­ter­day, the Club noted that Wy­dad were yet to ful­fill the trans­fer re­quire­ments of the player from Abia War­riors FC to Wy­dad.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, “player Chi­som Chikatara re­mains a bonafide player of Abia War­riors FC, Umuahia.” Wy­dad had on Fri­day 1st of July 2016, an­nounced the cap­ture of the tar­get man on their web­site, claim­ing that: “Wy­dad’s board of di­rec­tors com­pleted the en­tire pro­ce­dure and the trans­ac­tion of the trans­fer of the Nige­rian Chi­som Chikatara to Wy­dad AC.

“The money was suc­cess­fully trans­ferred af­ter the club pre­sented the cer­tifi­cate of trans­fer of the in­ter­na­tional player. The en­tire pro­ce­dure was done ac­cord­ing to the reg­u­la­tions and rules the club is ac­cus­tomed to.”

How­ever, Abia War­riors said they have not re­ceived the pur­ported trans­fer fee and have there­fore, pre­sented no cer­tifi­cate of trans­fer to Wy­dad Ath­letic in re­spect of the player in ques­tion.
