Po­lice ar­rest 5 for rob­bery, cultism

The Po­lice in Benue state have ar­rested five peo­ple in con­nec­tion with armed rob­bery and cultist ac­tiv­i­ties from dif­fer­ent lo­ca­tions of the state.

Daily Trust re­ports that four of them were sus­pected armed rob­bers while the fifth per­son is be­ing held for his in­volve­ment in cultism which led to the death of one per­son.

Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer (PPRO), ASP. Moses Yamu said that the po­lice trailed the sus­pected rob­bers to their hide­out in Kastina-Ala lo­cal gov­ern­ment area of the state af­ter re­ceiv­ing a re­port that the oc­cu­pants of a Toy­ota bus who were head­ing to Adamawa state from Anam­bra were robbed at gun­point.

He said that two lo­cally made pis­tols, a re­volver gun and some of the robbed valu­able items were re­cov­ered from them.

While the cult sus­pect, one Melchizedek Kings­ley Gabriel, 19, an al­leged key mem­ber of Red Skin con­fra­ter­nity was ar­rested in Otukpo based on a tip-off in con­nec­tion with the killing of one Em­manuel Ogli in De­cem­ber last year, Gabriel who had been evad­ing ar­rest was picked up dur­ing the Sal­lah hol­i­days, Yamu said.
