School supervisor, brother killed in Benue
Aschool supervisor under the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mr. Sam Wayo and his brother were yesterday shot dead on their way to farm in Logo area of the state by gunmen.
Witnesses said that Wayo and his brother, Mr. Msugh Lim, were ambushed by the gunmen who lurked around NKST Church premises in Tyogbihi village, Tiza about 6:30 am yesterday.
The villagers said that the gunmen had throughout the night terrorised residents of neighbouring Akombo, Agbenge, Kwagh Agule, Tyoban, Tse Yough and Gemana villages as they shot sporadically at the frightened locals who scampered into nearby bushes.
Commenting on the incident, a former government official from the area, Chief Joseph Anawah, said that apart from the deceased brothers, two other corpses were recovered from Akombo village attack near Anyiin town following the night raid.
Anawah said that scores of villagers were missing at the time of this report while many wounded in all the affected communities had been taken to hospitals for treatment.
He added that the deceased Wayo and his brother Msugh who are from Tombo ward of Logo were heading to Sma Wayo’s rice farm when they were confronted by their killers.
The late Wayo, according to Anawah, was due to retire from the Civil Service later this month.
Police spokesman Moses Yamu confirmed the killings of Wayo and Msugh by the unknown gunmen.
