School su­per­vi­sor, brother killed in Benue

Aschool su­per­vi­sor un­der the Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Education Author­ity (LGEA), Mr. Sam Wayo and his brother were yes­ter­day shot dead on their way to farm in Logo area of the state by gun­men.

Wit­nesses said that Wayo and his brother, Mr. Msugh Lim, were am­bushed by the gun­men who lurked around NKST Church premises in Tyo­g­bihi vil­lage, Tiza about 6:30 am yes­ter­day.

The vil­lagers said that the gun­men had through­out the night ter­rorised res­i­dents of neigh­bour­ing Akombo, Ag­benge, Kwagh Agule, Ty­oban, Tse Yough and Ge­m­ana vil­lages as they shot spo­rad­i­cally at the fright­ened lo­cals who scam­pered into nearby bushes.

Com­ment­ing on the in­ci­dent, a for­mer gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial from the area, Chief Joseph Anawah, said that apart from the de­ceased broth­ers, two other corpses were re­cov­ered from Akombo vil­lage attack near Anyiin town fol­low­ing the night raid.

Anawah said that scores of vil­lagers were missing at the time of this re­port while many wounded in all the af­fected com­mu­ni­ties had been taken to hos­pi­tals for treat­ment.

He added that the de­ceased Wayo and his brother Msugh who are from Tombo ward of Logo were head­ing to Sma Wayo’s rice farm when they were con­fronted by their killers.

The late Wayo, ac­cord­ing to Anawah, was due to re­tire from the Civil Ser­vice later this month.

Po­lice spokesman Moses Yamu con­firmed the killings of Wayo and Msugh by the un­known gun­men.
