Nurses protest kid­nap of col­league in Benin

The Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Nige­ria Nurses and Mid­wives (NANNM) Univer­sity of Benin Teach­ing Hospital chap­ter, yes­ter­day protested the kid­nap of their col­league, Okaka Pa­tri­cia, by gun­men in Benin.

Daily Trust gath­ered that Pa­tri­cia, a mid­wife with the Univer­sity of Benin Teach­ing Hospital was kid­napped on Fri­day by gun­men while she was re­turn­ing home af­ter a church ser­vice.

Speak­ing dur­ing the protest, the as­so­ci­a­tion chair­man, Osigbeme Au­gus­tine, called on the gov­ern­ment and se­cu­rity agen­cies in the coun­try to tackle the men­ace of kid­nap­ping.

He noted that five days af­ter she was kid­napped by gun­men, no one had been com­mu­ni­cated on her where­abouts.

The nurses and mid­wives who matched through ma­jor roads and the hos­pi­tals with var­i­ous plac­ards, said the kid­napped nurse is one of the best hands in the hospital.
