The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) yesterday lifted the suspension on funeral ceremonies and burial rites in the Kingdom.

The suspension was imposed on burial and mourning activities in the Benin Kingdom by the BTC in May 2016 to pave way for the burial ceremony of Omo N’oba N’Edo, Oba Erediauwa, whose demise was officially announced on 29th April 2016.

Announcing the suspension in Benin yesterday, the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe, said the Crown Prince, HRH Eheneden Erediauwa, was aware of the plight of the people who had endured the delay in their obligation to bury their departed loved ones and had granted permission for them to carry out their burial ceremonies.

The Iyase said information regarding the pending coronation ceremonies of the Crown Prince would be disclosed in due course.
