SPAR berths in Calabar, records unprecedented attendance
Nigerians and foreigners in the country’s tourism capital came out in their numbers as SPAR officially unveiled its 10th Store in Nigeria
The opening ceremony which took place on July 6 at the Calabar Mall, Cultural Centre recorded the highest number shoppers in any Store launch in Nigeria.
Past minister of tourism, High Chief Edem Duke officiated the ceremony with the cutting of the ribbon amidst traditional dance performances and other side attractions.
While declaring SPAR officially open, Edem Duke congratulated SPAR for investing in Cross River and commended the Hypermarket for enhancing development in the state.
Also in attendance was Cross-River State’s former commissioner of sports, Patrick Ugbe ,alongside several other media personalities.
According to the Brand’s spokesperson, Mr. John Goldsmith, “Our outlets are carefully controlled to offer the most competitive prices on fasting moving consumer goods and other items required to make life comfortable.
“Over 50,000 shoppers were present at the store today. At some point shoppers had to be ushered in batches to manage the deluge entering the store.’’he added.
In commemoration of the Calabar launch, SPAR is offering all its shoppers an opportunity to win spectacular gifts. On any purchase of 2,500 Naira and above shoppers get instant gifts ranging from electronic devices to edible goods.
