Rustlers kill 3 in Adamawa village
Armed bandits have killed at least three villagers and injured several others in Tambo-Gimo village of Girei Local Government Area in Adamawa State.
The village head of Tambo, Idi Wakili Sama, said the cattle rustlers stormed the village about 11pm on Tuesday and carted away cattle and other property.
He said the attackers fired gunshots in the air, scaring residents who fled, before looting houses and shops.
The police spokesman in the state, DSP Abubakar Othman, confirmed the killing of the three people.
Girei area had recently seen series of attacks by suspected herders following clashes between them and native farmers.
ýSix communities in Gire area had recently petitioned the National Human Rights Commission over alleged incessant attacks by the herders, accusing government of failing to protect the communities despite early warnings.
