Ogun LG polls: UPN chieftain to sponsor candidates
A chieftain of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and governorship candidate of the party in Ogun State, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, has offered to sponsor the party’s candidates for the forthcoming local government elections in the state slated for October 8.
Paseda, who made this known, yesterday, said that he took the decision for the success of the UPN candidates in the local government and local council development areas in the state.
He stated this through his chief media strategist, Otunba Eddy Ademosu, who said that as a formidable opposition party, the UPN in Ogun State would continue to help its members to legitimately snatch power from the APC-led administration.
“The party is battle ready for the forthcoming election as a means of providing alternative means of governance and dividends of democracy to our people at the grassroots,” he said.
“The local government elections are prelude for 2019 general elections and we shall continue to seek support of the people towards ensuring a better Ogun State of our dream.”
Also speaking, the state’s party chairman, Funmilayo Irede Oginni, said that the party was aware of the government’s alleged plan to truncate the electoral processes by frustrating candidates of other political parties.
