Scan­dal: Reps shift meet­ing with US en­voy

The meet­ing be­tween two House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives com­mit­tees and the United States Am­bas­sador to Nige­ria, James En­twistle, over the al­le­ga­tions of sex­ual mis­con­duct against law­mak­ers was yes­ter­day shifted to July 20.

En­twistle was ex­pected to ap­pear along­side the Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs, Ge­of­frey Onyeama, but both were not present at the ses­sion, hence the post­pone­ment.

The meet­ing was ear­lier slated for last Mon­day, but it was post­poned till yes­ter­day.

How­ever, at the com­mence­ment of the ses­sion, the chair­man of the Com­mit­tee on Ethics and Priv­i­leges, Os­sai Ni­cholas Os­sai (PDP, Delta) read a let­ter from Onyeama.

He said the min­is­ter was cur­rently at­tend­ing an African Union Sum­mit in Ki­gali, Rwanda and would not be back un­til July 19. The min­is­ter said in the let­ter that he would be avail­able any date there­after.
