2 ar­raigned over N12, 550 theft

Two youths, Michael Obazuaye, 18 and Osado­lor Kelvin, 23, have been ar­raigned be­fore Oredo Mag­is­trates’ Court in Benin for al­legedly steal­ing N12, 550, be­long­ing to one Mr Jonathan Abassa.

The ac­cused per­sons were charged with con­spir­acy to com­mit felony, en­ter­ing dwelling­house with in­tent to com­mit felony and steal­ing.

The pros­e­cu­tor, In­spec­tor Pa­trick Ag­bonifo, said the of­fence was com­mit­ted on June 27, in Abassa’s res­i­dence, at Ule­mon in Benin.

He added that if found guilty, the ac­cused per­sons were li­able to im­pris­on­ment for not less than seven years.

The ac­cused per­sons pleaded not guilty, and the pre­sid­ing Chief Mag­is­trate, Mrs Rachael Og­be­y­oen, granted them bail and ad­journed the case to Au­gust 23, 2016.
