Daily Trust - - CITY NEWS - By Richard P. Ngbokai

The Ummah Support Initiative, an Islamic humanitarian organisation from the Central Mosque, Abuja, in collaboration with Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Daily Trust newspapers, have donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Durumi, Area 1, Abuja.

The relief materials included food items, sanitary wares and writing materials for school children which were presented to the IDPs to help in meeting their basic needs.

Presenting the materials on behalf of the USI, the coordinator Malam Danjuma Abdullahi, urged the IDPs to ensure judicious use of the materials. He said their intervention was necessitated by the poor sanitary condition they saw at the camp during their last visit.

A delegation from the FCT primary healthcare department also attended the programme.

The coordinator, who spoke on water sanitation and hygiene, called on the internally displaced women to adopt a culture of healthy living, saying an unhealthy lifestyle was dangerous to health.

Hajiya Karimatu Adamu who led the delegation from the FCT primary healthcare department also advised the women to take good care of their children, as an obligation ordained by God.

She also advised them to avail their children of routine immunisation against the killer diseases.

Karimatu who expressed displeasure over nonchalance by the women to antinatal care during pregnancy, advised them to ensure routine checkup, especially during pregnancy.
