INEC urged to conduct fresh re-run election in Kogi

The Network of Igala Associations (NIA) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct fresh re-rerun elections in Kogi Central and Kogi East senatorial districts of the state.

The association made the call in a letter of protest, dated July 12 and addressed to INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

In the letter made available to Daily Trust, yesterday, the body said INEC should conduct the re-run in order to give the people voice at the National Assembly.

The letter was signed by the group’s leader, Comrade Ojile Charles Ibrahim, deputy leader, Alhaji Umoru Mohammed and Secretary, Malam Hassan Musa.

According to them, when the appeal court ruled that there should be a re-run election within 90 days, the directive did not exclude any political party or candidates from participating.

It therefore described as unlawful, the decision of INEC to exclude the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the rerun of February 20, 2016, held in Kogi Central and Kogi East Senatorial Districts.
