What I saw Governor Yari doing
When Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar assumed office, the state was almost economically crippled with no adequate infrastructure in place, in addition to high profile debt facility of over N50 billion.
This almost made the state difficult to be governed as the expectation of the populace remained so high.
Taking into cognizance of the high expectation of the people, Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar had carefully utilized his God-given wisdom by ensuring strict application policy of prudent management of state meagre resources and political stability as immediate step for attaining a success.
As stated earlier of debt burden of over N50 billion, over N20 billion had been paid to various banks and over N15 billion had also been paid to contractors handling various projects in the state.
These projects had successfully been completed and commissioned.
During the last four years, Agriculture had enjoyed top priority consideration of Governor Yari’s Administration as he introduced a unique and popular policy throughout his tenure of selling a bag of fertilizer to farmers at N1000 per bag.
His administration spent the sum of N12.6 billion in the procurement of over 122, 000 metric tones of assorted fertilizer which were sold to farmers.
With numerous and quite worrisome problems in education sector, Governor Yari did not hesitate to rescuing the most important sector from total collapse.
He established a vibrant feeding agency with the mandate of ensuring that students were not only fed well but also with nutritious meals for healthy body and mind.
His administration spent over N18 billion in the feeding of over 154, 198 students at 191 schools in the state from 2011-2015.
The leadership of Governor Yari released about N5 billion as government’s counterpart contribution to the UBE programme.
This undoubtedly made the state among the top ranking states in terms of accessing UBE funds.
In the same vein, 265 primary schools across the state have been renovated at the cost of over N3 billion in addition to massive construction of new class rooms across the fourteen local government areas of the state at the cost of N510m.
Health sector has equally celebrated merciful touch of Governor Yari as many primary health centres across the state are being rehabilitated and expanded.
The Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital completed by the present administration has since been a reference point for a teaming populace within and outside the state.
Security of lives and property of people of the state has never been compromised by his administration as about 500 Toyoto Hilux and other logistics support have been distributed to security agencies with a view to checkmating cattle-rustling, armed-banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
For the economic upliftment of the state, roads network has been accorded top most priority by Yari’s stewardship as over Eight Hundred kilometre of roads across the state have been constructed at the cost of over N86 billion.
Similarly, township roads projects at the headquarters of all the 14 local government areas and other towns are at the age of completion.
The administration of Yari has been in the fore-front in poverty alleviation; over 1000 vehicles and over 12,000 motorcycles were distributed to people across the state as well as 150 buses to members of Zamfara State Chapter of NURTW.
A provision of portable drinking water is the responsibility of every responsible government hence rural dwellers in Zamfara State are being provided with SemiUrban Water System.
Despite the economic crunch being experienced in the country Zamfara State inclusive, Governor Yari has obviously demonstrated his ability to moving the state forward.
His commitment towards a better Zamfara State has been applauded by the people of his state and some national leaders which include President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senator Bola Ahmad Tinubu, among others who were in Zamfara for the inauguration of various developmental projects he executed.
