Fi­jabi, Skoro, oth­ers for GOTV Box­ing Night 8

The eight edi­tion of the GOTV Box­ing night which will come up at the in­door sports hall of the Na­tional Sta­dium, Lagos on July, 30, 2016 in hon­our of box­ing leg­end, Muhammed Ali who died re­cently.

Or­ga­niz­ers of the box­ing event an­nounced this at a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day in Lagos to un­veil the box­ers who will par­tic­i­pate in the bouts.

Ac­cord­ing to Jenk­ins Alu­mona, the CEO of Flykite Sports, pro­mot­ers of the event, the bouts which will be more ex­plo­sive than the pre­vi­ous edi­tions will be held in recog­ni­tion of achieve­ments of the great Muhammed Ali. In the big­gest fight of the night, reign­ing na­tional cham­pion Sunny “King” Ham­mer will face West African mid­dleweight cham­pion Rasheed “Afonja War­rior” Abo­laji in the a na­tional mid­dleweight box­ing ti­tle.

“We have high-cal­i­bre match-ups in ev­ery fight. This edi­tion will fea­ture a na­tional mid­dleweight box­ing ti­tle de­fence by Sunny “King” Ham­mer, reign­ing cham­pion, who will take on West African mid­dleweight cham­pion Rasheed “Afonja War­rior” Abo­laji. We have also brought in other big names and ris­ing stars of box­ing in Nige­ria,” Alu­mona said. Apart from the ti­tle fight, the event will see na­tional light wel­ter­weight cham­pion, Olaide “Fi­jaborn” Fi­jabi, slug it out with Joseph “Blacky Joe” Adeniji in a chal­lenge con­test.

In the wel­ter­weight cat­e­gory, Stan­ley “Edo Boy” Eribo will fight Dele “Lagelu” Adeleke, while Waidi “Skoro’ Us­man will duel with David “Lucky Boy” Ekpey­ong in the feath­er­weight cat­e­gory.
