Tricycle operators, popularly known as Keke, have accused police of extorting money from them, especially around Nyanya.

The National Chairman of Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Owners/ Riders Association, Salisu Mukhtar, made this known while addressing members of the association at a meeting in Nyanya. He said that he had received several complaints from his members accusing police of harassment and extortion. He assured members that the leadership of the association would take their complaints to the appropriate quarters.

“Several operators have complained that immediately they drop off passengers, police arrest them and extort money from them,” he said.

“So, I want to meet with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Nyanya because I have a good relationship with the police and we shall work for peace,” he said.
