Rivers PDP alleges arrest plot
The Rivers State Chapter of PDP says it has uncovered plots hatched by the leadership of the APC in the state to influence the arrest of its leaders ahead of the July 30 rescheduled rerun election.
The state’s publicity secretary of the party, Samuel Nwanosike, in a press briefing in Port Harcourt, yesterday, alleged that the leader of the APC in the state, and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has worked out plans to use security agents to arrest and intimidate party leaders in the state before the rescheduled elections.
He alleged that the APC stalwarts in the state were not ready to participate in a free and fair election.
He said: “Different plots have been devised to ensure that there is no credible election on 30th July. We have it on a good authority that different petitions have been written, which were targeted at arresting our key leaders across the state before the scheduled election.”
The publicity secretary of the APC, Chris Finebone, was yet to respond to a text message sent to him on the issue at the time of filing this report.
