Adelusi wants total overhaul of sports federations

A former President of the Nigeria Wushu Kungfu Federation (NWKF), Ojo Adelusi, yesterday called for total overhaul of sports federations after the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Adelusi said in an interview in Lagos that it was necessary to conduct elections into the bodies to make them relevant.

“There is therefore the need to overhaul the federation because many of them are non-functional.

“Overhauling would be a major step that could develop the various sport federations and bring them at par with their counterparts worldwide.

“There is the need to ensure that only officials with passion and determination to develop their federation were elected to occupy positions,” the former president said.

He said proactive and committed board members should be elected to bring about significant changes to the bodies.

Adelusi noted that there was dearth of activities in most of the sports federations which had affected their development, stressing that such federations need passionate administrators to generate desired result. (NAN)
