TY Danjuma commissions N250m projects in Borno
The Chairman, Presidential Victims Support Funds and former Defence Minister, General Yakubu Danjuma, has commissioned 39 projects worth N250 million to resettle IDPs from camp to their homes in Borno.
General TY Danjuma was received by Governor Kashim Shettima at Maiduguri International Airport and driven to the ancient town of Dikwa where the projects were commissioned.
General TY Danjuma explained that his committee was set up to raise funds for the victims of Boko Haram insurgents in the North East but lack of funds had slowed down the activities of the VSF.
He said, “Let me say here that there is no dignity for someone living in IDPs camp, we are witnessing the commissioning of public building in Dikwa township. The total money spent in reconstruction was 250 million naira. We were able to construct 39 projects, including general hospital, local government, police barracks and 35 buildings which IDPs will move in from camp to the township.
He also commend the efforts of Borno state government in addressing the issues of IDPs.
In his remarks, Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima thanked Gen TY Danjuma and his entourage for the efforts.
