Mrs Buhari, Emir Sanusi for Zumunta convention in USA
Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari and Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II are among prominent Nigerians expected at the 25th anniversary celebration and annual convention of Zumunta Association USA, slated for August 6 in Washington DC.
Zumunta Association is the umbrella group representing the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in the United States of America.
A statement by the convention chairman, Aliyu Mustapha, said the convention is composed of four elements, including International exhibition to promote made-in-Nigeria goods and services.
Second is the re-launching of the association’s flagship scholarship programme, through which it has for more than 20 years sponsored dozens of northern students to do technical and vocational studies in Nigerian universities.
Mrs Buhari is the Special Guest of Honour while Emir Sanusi II will deliver a keynote address at the association’s international conference on Collaborative Strategies with Nigerians in the Diaspora for Nation Building.
Governors of Bauchi, Adamawa, Niger, Kano, Sokoto, Borno and Yobe states, as well as top businessmen, including Aliko Dangote, Mohammed Indimi and T.Y. Danjuma are expected to attend.
