IBB Lady Captain fetes kids
The brand new Lady Captain of the IBB Golf Club, Lami Ahmed is indeed making the fact known that the game of golf should be handed over to kids who could eventually win medals for the nation in future Olympics.
To prove her point, Lami, a Lioness who thrives on oil and gas, precisely at the Conoil, has put together two tournaments that could provide some great fun to several kids in the coming holidays.
According to her over 200 kids will feature in developmental clinic from today to August 12.
She affirmed that kids who will be part of the programme will learn the game from the scratch and play it properly before the expiration of the programme. She claimed that brilliant teaching golf professionals are already on ground to put the youngsters through.
Then the big one, between August 17 and 10, the 8th IBB Junior Open Golf Championship will hold during which close to 200 golf kids across the nation will participate in this monumental event that will see all participants housed and fed. Thereafter, those who came tops in this event will be recommended to the royal and Ancient St Andrews, the world body governing golf for proper grounding.
“A lot of people are wondering why I am passionate about Kiddies golf”, Lami stated. “Let’s face it, the kiddies are our future… our tomorrow. As a mother, I must cater for their well-being. But this is a fact. The Olympics will hold in some weeks’ time and we don’t have anybody holding the nation’s flag in that event. This will not happen in the 2020 Olympics. I can tell you with all boldness that the youths we are investing on at the moment will be the pride of Nigeria. At least five of those who will play in the Open shall hoist this country’s flag in the 2020 Olympics. Please quote me on that”.
