Buhari hails Jus­tice Mam­man Nasir

Pres­i­dent Muham­madu Buhari yes­ter­day hailed Jus­tice Mam­man Nasir, a for­mer Pres­i­dent of the Courts of Ap­peal.

The pres­i­dent who spoke at the 1st Mam­man Nasir Col­lo­quium and Pub­lic pre­sen­ta­tion of books on him, as or­gan­ised by the Arewa Me­dia Publi­ca­tion Event Com­pany in Kaduna, said Kaduna is sym­bolic for Mam­man Nasir be­cause he be­gan his pub­lic ser­vice ca­reer Kaduna and it is the home of all Nige­ri­ans.

Rep­re­sented by the Gov­er­nor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Ru­fai, the pres­i­dent con­grat­u­lated the Gal­adi­man Katsina on at­tain­ing the ripe age of 87.

Buhari thanked Mam­man Nasir for his ser­vice to North­ern Nige­ria and Nige­ria, and for his ‘im­pec­ca­ble ser­vice’ to the ju­di­ciary.

The pres­i­dent ex­pressed ap­pre­ci­a­tion to the or­gan­is­ers of the event for hon­our­ing Ma­mama Nasir, say­ing, “In this coun­try, we do not rec­og­nize those that have served mer­i­to­ri­ously. This coun­try has be­come a na­tion in which peo­ple that have money are wor­shipped and rec­og­nized more than those that have served with merit.

Speak­ing sim­i­larly, the Min­is­ter of Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy, Dr. Christo­pher Og­bon­naya Onu, said Nige­ria eas­ily for­got those val­ues that made it great in the past.
