Gaidam lauds NAHCON on hajj re­funds

Gov­er­nor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has com­mended the Na­tional Hajj Com­mis­sion of Nige­ria (NAHCON) for pay­ing back to pil­grims across the states monies col­lected from them but for which ser­vices were not ren­dered dur­ing the 2014 and 2015 pil­grim­ages to Saudi Ara­bia.

“I com­mend the ef­fort of NAHCON for re­cov­er­ing and re­leas­ing the sum of over N1.7 bil­lion meant for ser­vices not ren­dered to 2014 and 2015 pil­grims cov­er­ing all states in the coun­try. Here in Yobe State, the state Pil­grims Com­mis­sion has re­ceived the sum of over N83 mil­lion. Sub­stan­tial part of the sum has since been paid to the ben­e­fi­cia­ries. I ap­plaud this ini­tia­tive,” Gaidam said.

The gov­er­nor spoke yes­ter­day when of­fi­cials of the state pil­grims com­mis­sion and leader of the 2015 Hajj ex­er­cise, Al­haji Ah­mad Ti­j­jani Ibn Saleh vis­ited to present to him re­port on the con­duct of the last Hajj to Saudi Ara­bia.

Gov­er­nor Gaidam said his ad­min­is­tra­tion would con­tinue to ren­der to pil­grims from the state all nec­es­sary sup­port to en­sure that their trip out of the coun­try for pil­grim­age is al­ways con­ducted with ease.
